A worker has been killed after being trapped beneath an excavator at a job site in Hanmer early this morning.
Shortly after 8:15 a.m. Sept. 18, officers were dispatched to a workplace incident at a residence on Dominion Drive in Hanmer. Information provided was that a contract worker was trapped beneath an excavator.
Greater Sudbury Police, Fire and Paramedic Services were dispatched to the scene.
The 42-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name will not be released out of respect for his family’s wishes.
“Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends,” said a press release from Greater Sudbury Police.
Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Integrated Traffic Safety Unit and Criminal Investigation Division are working in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office and the Ministry of Labour as this incident is being investigated as a workplace fatality.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
