The Sudbury Wolves were shut out by the Windsor Spitfires by a score of 4-0 Sept. 25.

The Sudbury Wolves looked to crack the win column for the first time this season as they continued their early season road swing in Windsor, taking on the high powered Windsor Spitfires.

The Wolves’ offense continued to falter, however, as they were shut out by the Windsor Spitfires by a score of 4-0.

Finn Marshall got the start between the pipes for the Sudbury Wolves, while Joey Costanzo took his place between the pipes for the Windsor Spitfires.

There was very little action in the first period until just 2:16 remained, when Nathan Gaymes scored on Marshall’s blocker side for his first goal of the season, assisted by Max Brocklehurst, giving the Windsor Spitfires a 1-0 lead, which is where the teams stayed heading into the first intermission.

The second period lacked scoring, and aside from two roughing penalties in the period, one to Wolves’ defenseman Gavin Ewles and the other to Windsor’s Nathan Gaymes, there was little action.

The score remained 1-0 for the Windsor Spitfires heading into the third period.

Just over five-and-a-half minutes into the third, Spits’ Forward John McLaughlin scored his first goal of the season, with a breakaway goal on Finn Marshall, with the assists being awarded to Carson Woodall and Caden Harvey, extending the Spitfires’ lead to 2-0.

With 7:39 remaining in the game, McLaughlin scored his second goal in a row, of the season, and of the hockey game, picking up Belchetz’s rebound, assisted by Ethan Belchetz and Jean-Christoph Lemieux, padding Windsor’s lead to 3-0.

Just 32 seconds later, the Windsor Spitfires sealed the victory, with Jonathan Brown’s first goal of the season off a screen that trickled by Marshall, with the assists going to Caden Harvey and Beksultan Makysh, capping off a 4-0 victory for the Windsor Spitfires over the Sudbury Wolves.

The Sudbury Wolves will take their record of zero wins, two regulation losses, and one overtime losses to Sarnia on Friday, Sept. 26, to take on the Sarnia Sting, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

This will be followed by a game in Brantford against the Brantford Bulldogs Saturday, Sept. 27, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
