Just three days after defeating the Peterborough Petes in an 8-2 rout, the Sudbury Wolves dropped their game to the Soo Greyhounds by that same 8-2 score, falling to four wins, nine regulation losses and one overtime loss on the season.

Landon Miller was the starting goaltender for the Greyhounds while the Wolves went with Finn Marshall between the pipes.

Less than one-and-a-half minutes into the game, Jeremy Martin scored his fourth goal of the season after a Wolves giveaway to the left of Marshall, with the assist going to Jordan Charron, giving Sault Ste. Marie an early 1-0 lead.

Marco Mignosa picked up a drop pass from Martin at the 6:35 mark of the first, and scored his seventh goal of the season, with Brady Martin and Travis Hayes picking up the assists, giving the Sault a 2-0 lead after the first period of play.

At 7:16 into the second period, Brady Smith made a nice move from in close on Finn Marshall scored his first goal of the season, assisted by Jeremy Martin, increasing the Hounds’ lead to 3-0.

Winnipeg Jets Kieron Walton prospect picked up his eighth goal of the season with a quick slap shot with 6:40 left in the middle frame, assisted by Chase Coughlan and Nathan Villeneuve, cracking the scoreboard for the Wolves and making the score 3-1.

With 5:54 remaining in the second, Mignosa scored his second of the game from a bad angle past Marshall, assisted by Brady Martin and Hunter Solomon, restoring Sault Ste. Marie’s lead to three goals and a 4- 1 lead.

Quinn MacKenzie scored his fifth goal of the season from just inside the Wolves’ defensive zone less than a minute later, with the assists going to Noah Laus and Chase Reid, increasing the Greyhounds’ lead further to 5-1.

With Henry Doucet for the Wolves serving a two minute minor penalty for Tripping, and with under two minutes left to play in the second, Jordan Charron scored his 12th goal of the season off of a scrambled play, this one on the power play.

Assists went to Ryan Kaczynski and Quinn McKenzie, giving the Greyhounds a 6-1 lead.

Brady Smith grabbed a rebound allowed by Finn Marshall’s replacement, Owen Leonard with 1:02 remaining in the period, and scored his second goal of the game.

He was assisted by Blake Arrowsmith and Noah Laus, giving the Greyhounds a commanding 7-1 lead with one period left in the hockey game.

Just under six minutes into the third period, Jordan Charron picked up his second of the game after Wolves’ defenseman Luca Blonda gave the puck away from behind the net, with the assists going to Christopher Brown and Jeremy Martin, making the score 8-1 for the Greyhounds.

With Marco Mignosa serving a two minute minor High Sticking penalty for Sault Ste. Marie with 5:33 left in the game, Kieron Walton shot from Miller’s left side and scored his second goal of the game, on the power play, assisted by Alex Pharand and Nathan Villeneuve, making the score 8-2 for Sault Ste Marie.

That would be the final score, with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds defeating the Sudbury Wolves by a score of 8-2.

The Sudbury Wolves will look to rebound on Friday, Oct. 31 in Kitchener against the Kitchener Rangers, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
