Valley East teen charged for assault, car theft

Charges stem from Sept. 25 incident in Willisville

A Valley East teen is facing numerous charges following an incident in Willisville on Manitoulin Island on Sept. 25.

Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police officers were dispatched to a residence in Willisville at around 10 p.m. that evening after receiving a call regarding a dispute in which someone was assaulted.

“While police were on route to the address, the suspect stole a vehicle and fled from the residence,” OPP said. “A short time later, police located and arrested the individual.”

A 16-year-old Valley East teen is charged with:

  • Assault cause bodily harm
  • Mischief under $5,000 - two counts
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Failure to comply with release order - two counts

The teen was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Nov. 28.
