Greater Sudbury Police arrested three allegedly prolific shoplifters over the past few days.

On Oct. 16, Patrol Operations officers located two individuals in the Cambrian Heights Drive area who were allegedly breaching judicial release conditions.

“The two individuals were taken into custody without incident,” GSPS said in a news release. ”While in custody, officers determined that the two individuals were responsible for at least 20 shoplifting incidents on Notre Dame Avenue over the last three weeks.”

As a result, a 29-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman are facing one count of theft under $5,000 for each incident.

Both individuals attended bail court on Oct. 17 and were remanded into custody, the release states.

Then, on Oct. 18, bike patrol officers on Cedar Street spotted a person known to be wanted for “numerous” shoplifting incidents, GSPS said in the news release.

“The individual is believed to have stolen over $18,000 worth of merchandise from a store on Kingsway between April and September  2025,” GSPS said in a news release. “The individual was taken into custody without incident.”

A 40-year-old woman is charged with theft over $5,000 as a result. The woman was also wanted on an outstanding Bench Warrant issued on Sept. 24 also for theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by Crime.

She attended bail court on Oct. 18 and was remanded into custody.

“Shoplifting continues to have a significant impact on local businesses and community safety,” GSPS said in the news release. “Beyond the immediate financial losses, these crimes increase costs for consumers, strain resources for business owners, and create an environment that undermines trust and security. We remain committed to addressing these offenses through reactive calls for service by Patrol Operations and proactive patrols by our Community Response Unit (CRU).”
