OPP launched an investigation into a social media-related incident involving local youth.

A prank gone viral has landed four teenagers from northern Ontario in trouble with the law, following an incident captured and shared widely on social media.

The video depicted disruptive behaviour inside a Blind River discount store.

On Friday, August 29, the East Algoma OPP launched an investigation into a social media-related incident involving local youth.

The investigation stems from a video posted on social media on Monday, August 18, showing four youths from Blind River entering a discount store in a plaza. The video appears to depict the group intentionally engaging in disruptive behaviour with the goal of being removed from the premises.

As a result of the investigation, two 14-year-olds and two 13-year-olds from Blind River have been charged with "Engaging in Prohibited Activity on Premises."

"The OPP would like to thank members of the public for bringing this video to their attention and remind everyone that sharing concerning content with police can help support community safety and accountability," says a release.
