Sudbury Wolves issue Scam Alert over false emails

Sudbury Wolves Sports and Entertainment said false emails are circulating in the Sudbury area asking people to submit personal information

The Studbury Wolves hockey organization has issued an alert to the community saying there are potential security concerns happening with somebody trying to obtain personal information from fans and other members of the public. 

The organization issued a news release Saturday afternoon.  The release was verified by Scott Burns, the communications officer for Sudbury Wolves Sports and Entertainment. 

"We are writing to you today with an urgent and important message regarding a potential security concern that may affect members of our community," said the news release..

"It has come to our attention that a phishing email scam is currently circulating, attempting to impersonate the Sudbury Wolves organization, team members, or staff. These fraudulent emails may look legitimate and often ask for sensitive information, personal details, or financial credentials, said the release. 

The statement also said the organization wanted to make it clear that Sudbury Wolves club is not responsible for sending out the scam emails to members of the public.

"We sincerely apologize for any confusion, alarm, or inconvenience this criminal activity has caused you," said the release.

The hockey club is advising members of the public to use caution with any unusual messaging.

This includes no clicking on any suspicious or unexpected emails.

Do not share any personal information and especially not any passwords, credit card information or credit card numbers.

Do not respond to any messaging that does not end with @sudburywolves.com and be wary of messages that might contain slight misspellings.
