Sudbury Wolves howling in pain as Bulldogs bark up a big win

Sudbury can’t find the scoring touch in 6-0 loss to Brantford

The latest chapter of the battle of the dogs between the Sudbury Wolves and the Brantford Bulldogs was a lopsided one in Brantford on Friday evening, as the Sudbury Wolves fell to 0 wins, six regulation losses, and one overtime loss on the season after dropping a 6-0 road game to the Bulldogs.

Finn Marshall once again got the start in goal for the Sudbury Wolves while David Egorov got the nod in goal for the Brantford Bulldogs.

Just over three minutes into the game, Brantford grabbed a 1-0 lead with Parker Holmes’ first goal of the season with a slap shot from in front of the net, assisted by Dylan Tsherna.

With 1:03 remaining in the opening period, Adam Benak snuck behind the Wolves’ defenders and put the puck behind Marshall for his third goal of the season, with the assists going to Jake O’Brien and Edison Engle, increasing the Bulldogs’ lead to 2-0 at the end of the first period of play.

Just eight seconds into the second, before the ice even had a chance to dry, Jake O’Brien scored his second goal of the season from the slot right in front of Marshall, with the lone assist going to Adam Benak, giving Brantford a 3-0 lead.

At the 6:08 mark of the middle frame, Brantford’s Caleb Malhotra scored off his backhand for his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Cooper Dennis and Lucas Moore, putting the Bulldogs firmly in control of the game with a 4-0 lead.

With 5:49 left to play in the second period, Layne Gallacher scored his second goal of the season picking up a teammates’ rebound, with Luca Testa and Parker Holmes picking up the assists, giving Brantford a 5-0 lead with one period left to play in the hockey game.

The only goal of the third period came at the 4:20 mark of the period, with Vladimir Dravecky scoring his fourth goal of the season on a slap shot just inside the Wolves’ blue line, with the assists going to Jake O’Brien and Edison Engle, sealing a resounding 6-0 victory for the Brantford Bulldogs over the Sudbury Wolves.

The 0-6-1-0 Sudbury Wolves are still hunting for their first victory of the season, and will continue that hunt when they hit the ice across the border in Erie, Pennsylvania, when they play against the Erie Otters on Saturday, October 11 th , with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
