Summit Physiotherapy & Performance has continued its streak in the Sudbury.com Reader Favourite Awards, winning the most votes in the Physical and Occupational Therapists category for the third year in a row.
The clinic was opened by owner Cathy Coulson in 2023, and registered physiotherapist Alec St Pierre has been there since the beginning.
“We’re very lucky to work in a community like Sudbury. There are so many great physios in town, so to have people take the time to recognize our clinic means a lot,” says Alec.
The staff at Summit love hearing from their patients about how positive the atmosphere at their clinic is. Their patients’ comfort and trust is of the utmost priority, as they help them navigate tough issues like injuries and chronic pain.

“People come for treatments because they’re going through something, which can be really difficult and can have a big impact on their life,” says Alec.
The Summit team is made up of five people: physiotherapists Cathy, Alec, Tara and Jonah, plus registered massage therapist David. All of them understand the injuries that athletes can experience, as sports enthusiasts themselves. They do outreach in the community and meet with teams to advise on injury prevention, as well as how to heal and return to sports post-injury. Alec has been a physiotherapist at The Baseball Academy for over three years, treating athletes in clinic and at their facilities.
“As physios, that’s why we got into this career. We want to make a difference and help people,” says Alec. “Having active involvement in helping people get better is the most enjoyable element of the job.”
Physiotherapists treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions that cause pain, weakness, stiffness, limited movement, and other symptoms. Summit offers all kinds of services, both preventative and post-injury (plus post-surgery). These services include physiotherapy, paediatric physiotherapy, massage therapy, group exercise classes, and personal training, as well as rehabilitation for concussions, TMJ, and more.

The work of physios can truly change lives, as one Google review of Summit Physiotherapy & Performance attests to: “Due to Jonah’s care I was able to have the best 3 years of my life prior to having surgery. Once the surgery transpired he was there to support me and guide me back on track. Now I’m 1 and a half years post surgery on my right hip and 11 months post surgery on my left hip; my life has transformed. Now when I see him, we are able to focus on things like golfing, weight lifting and more vigorous exercise.”
Alec and the team at Summit love the tight-knit community of Sudbury, often finding connections between themselves and new patients who come in. “Sudbury has a large population, but it’s got a small town feel to it,” Alec remarks.
He and the team send out their thanks to all the Sudburians who took the time to vote for their clinic in the Reader Favourite Awards.
“Thank you for your continued support. We come to work every day to help people feel their best, and the positive feedback motivates us to work harder to help the Sudbury community.”
