It’s showtime, Sudbury! Sudbury Performance Group invites audiences into the weird and wonderful world of the afterlife with their high-energy, family-friendly production of Beetlejuice Jr.

The show runs nightly at 6:30 p.m. June 12 to 21 at Thorneloe University on the Laurentian campus.

Doors open one hour before curtain each night to welcome families into a frightfully fun experience full of laughter, music, and mayhem.

Based on Tim Burton’s cult classic film and the hit Broadway musical, Beetlejuice Jr. tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teen whose life takes a turn for the strange when she encounters a recently deceased couple and a mischievous demon who’s “the ghost with the most.”

With music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Eddie Perfect and a script by Anthony King and Scott Brown, this family-appropriate adaptation of the Broadway smash is packed with laughs, heart, and a healthy dose of the supernatural.

“This is a show that speaks to a new generation of theatre lovers,” said Mark Mannisto, president of Sudbury Performance Group.

“The young performers in this cast are unbelievably talented. They’re not just memorizing lines — they’re delivering heartfelt performances, complex harmonies, and laugh-out-loud comedy with professionalism beyond their years.”

Perfect for all ages, Beetlejuice Jr. brings spooky fun and life-affirming messages to the stage in a way that resonates with both kids and adults.

“Whether you’ve loved Beetlejuice since the movie days or you’re discovering it for the first time through your kids, this show has something for everyone,” Mannisto continued. “It’s the perfect outing for families — a mix of outrageous comedy, great music, and themes about grief, acceptance, and the importance of being yourself.”
