Marcel Leclaire of Sudbury has won the $3 million top prize with the Instant Platinum game (No. 2206), the second time in less than 10 years that he has won a significant lottery prize.
Leclaire, 72, was smiling broadly as he held the game-winning cheque for the OLG lottery photo. It was back in 2017 that Leclaire won $1 million with Encore, said the OLG news release.
He said he bought the Platinum ticket because he liked the look of it.
“I still play weekly,” Leclaire said while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his winnings. “This ticket was nice and shiny and it caught my eye, so I bought it."
The Sudbury retiree said he checked his ticket at the store and shouted, “Wow!” when he discovered he was he had won a big prize again.
Leclaire said he shared the good news with some of his friends, all of whom said they were very happy for him.
Leclaire said he plans to share his winnings with family and buy a house, said the OLG news release.
“This is just amazing. It’s an incredible feeling,” he added.
The Platinum game is available for $30 a play and the top prize is $3 million. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.48, said the news release.
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Lasalle Boulevard in Sudbury.
