Sudbury man faces impaired charges after driving into ditch on Hwy. 17

A 54-year-old Sudbury man is facing impaired driving-related charges after driving into a ditch in Markstay-Warren September 6.

Provincial police say at around 6:30 a.m., emergency services responded to a vehicle in a ditch on Highway 17 in Markstay-Warren.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the local hospital by EMS for minor injuries.

The man was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on October 1 in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
