Sudbury man, 58, facing charges in 15 commercial break ins

In at least 15 incidents between July 23 and Aug. 27, a Sudbury man smashed windows at local businesses to gain access to cash registers. He was arrested Aug. 28

Greater Sudbury Police have arrested and charged a 58-year-old man in connection with a series of commercial break ins around New Sudbury and the South End. 

In at least 15 incidents between July 23 and Aug. 27, the man “used an object to smash a window of the business to gain access to  the cash register and steal money from the till,” said a GSPS release. 

The release states that on August 28, detectives from the Break Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit concluded their investigation into the man and then detectives from the Integrated Crime Section (with the assistance of Patrol Operations) stopped the man’s vehicle on Notre Dame Avenue. He was arrested and is now facing 11 counts of Break and Enter and Commit Indictable Offence, four counts of Break and Enter with Intent to Commit and indictable offence and two counts of driving while under a suspension. 

He was held overnight and appeared in bail court on Aug. 29.
