Still riding off of their first Basketball Super League championship crown last season, the Sudbury Five hit the court Dec. 29 for their home opener at Sudbury Arena.
The Five will welcome the Lake Erie Jackals (formerly the Jamestown Jackals) for that Monday game. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
That game will also see the Five raise the team’s first championship banner into the rafters at Sudbury Arena.
The team’s full schedule has yet to be released, but should be in the coming days, the team said.
The league released home-opener dates for five of the six teams the Basketball Super League will field this season. Besides the Sudbury Five, returning to the league this year are the KW Titans, the Windsor Express, the Lake Erie Jackals, the Montreal Toundra and the Glass City Wranglers.
The London Lightning and the Newfoundland Rogues are pausing their operations this season, the league said in a news release. The Saginaw Spirit has also opted to postpone its entry into the league by a year.
