Friends of the Roxborough Greenbelt and the Junction Creek
Stewardship Committee would like to thank the participants and
supporters of the Winter Walkathon, held Feb. 10. Special
thanks to the Sudbury Samba Drum Squad, which led some amazing
drumming before the walk, to Rainbow Routes for the loan of
snow-shoes, and to all the volunteers who made the event
happen. At least 65 people of all ages, including
representatives of Myths and Mirrors, the Green Party, Sudbury
Animal Advocates, Cambrian College (Nature-based Adventure
Tourism program), Girl Guides and Sea Cadets, braved some wild
winter weather on the three kilometre walk.
It turned out to be a fun afternoon of winter activities,
with all proceeds going towards the conservation of the
Roxborough Greenbelt as public greenspace.
