It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kari John Riutta, who passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, in Sudbury, Ontario.
Kari was the beloved husband of Maureen Huntington, and the proud and loving father of Ronald and Daniel. He was a devoted grandfather to Grace Caldwell, who brought him endless joy.
Kari will be dearly missed by his siblings Raine (Lyette) and Lisa, and fondly remembered by his nieces Kristine, Karen, and the late Jenny.
A proud Finlander, Kari cherished his heritage and spoke both Finnish and English. He was an avid fisherman who loved spending time in his sportspal canoe, surrounded by the peace of nature. A talented bodyman and painter by trade, Kari took great pride in his work and craftsmanship.
Kari will be remembered for his sharp wit, warm humour, and the way he could light up any room he entered. He loved his family deeply and was a man of steadfast faith, whose belief in God guided his life.
Visitation will be held at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home on Saturday November 22, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am. A Memorial Service will take place in the R.J. Barnard Chapel on Saturday November 22, 2025, at 11:00am. A private family interment of ashes will take place at the Civic Cemetery.
