As part of William and Katherine Bell Day, Gordon Drysdale and Emily Brisson pose as the historic couple in 1911-era costumes at Bell Park July 24.

Drysdale, a local artist, organized the event to honour contributions made by the couple.

Drysdale also wanted to draw attention to the Bell Covenant, which states that the 110 acres of land donated by William Bell to the people of Sudbury in 1926 is intended to be used solely as a park.

This agreement has been violated on several occasions over the years, with buildings and parking lots being built, Drysdale said.

William Bell, who moved to Sudbury in the late 1800s, was the owner of the Spanish River Lumber Company. Katherine Bell was the founder of the Sudbury Horticultural Society.
