Provincial police say they've identified the remains of a second victim in an ongoing Simcoe, Ont., homicide investigation.

Police say the remains found last week in a wooded area off Highway 6, west of Caledonia in Haldimand County, have been confirmed as those of 49-year-old Robert Sykes of Simcoe.

Investigators say the cause of death was determined to be homicide.

Ontario Provincial Police had previously said that Sykes was missing and feared to be another victim after a woman was found dead in a Simcoe home on Oct. 5.

Police arrested a 45-year-old man on a second-degree murder charge in the woman's death and later confirmed the suspect was her son.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the OPP.
