Delegates from airports across Ontario will gather in Sudbury next month for the 40th anniversary convention and trade show of the Airport Management Council of Ontario (AMCO).
AMCO is a not-for-profit group promoting safe, efficient airport operations across the province. It advocates on behalf of airports as well as providing networking, programs, and events for airport owners, operators, businesses, communities, and government partners involved in Ontario’s airport infrastructure.
This year’s event, taking place Oct. 5-8 at the Holiday Inn, will feature a golf tournament, keynote speakers, networking opportunities, a trade show, and the annual general meeting, which will include the election of a new board of directors.
Topics of discussion will include succession planning and youth engagement; crisis communications; a case study of Bogotá's El Dorado International Airport; crime trends within aviation; strategic planning; and the future of aviation.
Of particular interest to Northern Ontario, reports will be given on airport trends in northwestern and northeastern Ontario, and there will be a tour of the Greater Sudbury Airport.
Participants will also hear from managers of the North’s major airports, including Terry Bos, president and CEO of the Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation; Dave Dayment, manager at the Victor M. Power Airport in Timmins; and Giovanna Verrilli, CEO of the Greater Sudbury Airport.
