A Port Hope teen was arrested and had their vehicle impounded after the Ontario Provincial Police say the driver was clocked at 75 km/h over the limit on Highway 17 in Massey on Sept. 1.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. that day, Manitoulin OPP was conducting general patrols on Highway 17 in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township “when they observed a motorist travelling at 165 km/hr in a 90 km/hr zone,” an OPP release states.
Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver was arrested.
As a result, a 17-year-old from Port Hope is charged with:
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt
- Speeding 50+ km/h over posted limit
- Driver fail to surrender licence
The driver's licence was suspended for 30 days, the vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and the driver is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Oct. 9.
