Around 4,500 francophone students from across Northeastern Ontario took over the Sudbury Arena June 3 for a St-Jean concert.
Some of the students came from the Sudbury area, yes, but others were from areas as far away as Blind River, Chapleau, Dubreuilville, Elliot Lake, Espanola, Hornepayne, Sault Ste. Marie, Spanish and Wawa.
The show was presented by Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord and the St-Jean committee in Sudbury.
It featured the Franco-Ontarian band LGS (Le Groupe Swing) and Anishnaabe hoop dancer Mahkena Rankin Guérin.
The concert marked the beginning of the St-Jean festivities in Greater Sudbury, which will continue until June 26.
