BLIND RIVER - Tributes are pouring in for a 19-year-old father of two who drowned over the weekend east of Blind River.

On Monday, the Mississauga First Nation (MFN) named Taiven Cada as the man whose body was found Monday as the result of a Saturday boating accident at the Mississaugi River falls.

"Taiven-baa was well known throughout our community for his love of the water and his passion for fishing," said the statement from MFN. "At this time, we extend our deepest condolences to Taiven-baa's partner, children, and family in our thoughts and prayers."

In the statement, the MFN thanked the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), MFN Departments and MFN Fire Department, along with the friends, family and community members who responded to the tragedy.

"Boats were launched, people and drones searched the riverbanks and search lights stayed out late into the night — all in a collective effort of love and care for Taiven," said MFN in the release.

Tributes to Cada began appearing on Sunday. At the time, the OPP was conducting a search of the water for the man.

"You gave this world two beautiful kids, son you were one hell of a sportsman," said Mark Nadeau in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Arrangements for Cada will be announced by family at a future date, said MFN in the statement.
