Women in Mining Sudbury will announce winners at November gala

The inaugural Mining for Diversity Awards was held in 2024 in Sudbury.

Women in Mining Sudbury is now accepting nominations for its second annual Mining for Diversity Awards.

The initiative aims to recognize women who are making a remarkable impact in mining, and people can be nominated in five categories: Trailblazer, Indigenous Trailblazer, Student Trailblazer, Mentorship, and Frontline Excellence.

“These awards are a celebration of the exceptional contributions and achievements of women in the mining industry,” the organization explains on its website.

“Our mission is to highlight the accomplishments of women who have demonstrated leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing the mining industry.

“This event serves as a platform to showcase their achievements, inspire future generations, and promote diversity and inclusion within the sector.”

Submissions can be made via the organization’s website, which outlines the awards’ eligibility criteria, and will be accepted until Oct. 5 at 5 p.m.

Winners will be announced during a gala evening on Nov. 13 in Sudbury.

Women in Mining Sudbury is a non-profit organization that aims to unify and elevate women working in mining in Sudbury, and attract more women to the industry.

There are currently 20 Women in Mining Canada chapters operating across the country.
