It is with deep love and sorrow that the family of Joanne Hawes Lafreniere Morin announces her passing with the rising of the sun on November 11, 2025. A woman of steadfast Christian faith, Joanne lived her life with grace, generosity, and devotion to those she cherished most — her family.
Joanne was the beloved wife of Norm Morin and the late Michel Lafreniere. A devoted and loving mother, she leaves behind her son Phil Lafreniere and his wife Nicole, and their children Maverick and Eric; daughter Shannon Lafreniere; and son James Morin and his wife Tiffany, and their children Amelia, Ryleigh, Dahlia, Helena, and Nevaeh.
She was predeceased by her parents, Allen and Rita Hawes (nee Blais), as well as her in-laws, Marcel and Doris Lafreniere, and her mother-in-law, Liliane Morin. She will be missed by her father-in-law, Frank Morin.
Joanne was a loving sister to Jimmy (Karen), Karen Lunn, Theresa Abrams (predeceased), Don (Linda), Wayne (Sue), and Christine Sutcliffe (Marcel). She will also be dearly missed by her sisters- and brothers-in-law: Anne Matte (Ray), Lise St. Germain (late Roger), Brian Morin (Cathy), Annette Dixon (Mike), Phil Lafreniere, Mark Lafreniere, and Peter Lafreniere (Marianne).
She was a proud and caring aunt to many cherished nieces and nephews, and a cousin to many who loved her deeply.
Joanne found joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life, especially those shared at her beloved home on Ministic Lake. Surrounded by nature’s peace, she found solace and strength in the stillness of the water, the whisper of the trees, and the laughter of loved ones gathered nearby.
Her faith was her foundation, guiding her through life’s challenges and shaping the kindness and compassion she shared with everyone she met. Joanne’s home was a place of comfort, warmth, and welcome — a reflection of her gentle spirit and the love that filled her heart.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her deep love for her family, and the calm, nurturing presence she brought into every room. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Joanne’s light will continue to shine through the lives of all who were blessed to know her. She is now in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at the HSN Cancer Center, the CMU and 4North. In addition, they will be forever grateful for her caregivers at the Maison Sudbury Hospice.
The family will welcome family and friends to celebrate Joanne's life at Club 50, 25 Main W, Chelmsford, ON, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 1-4 pm. In place of flowers, please kindly donate to the Maison McCulloch Sudbury Hospice.
