MONTESI, Joseph “Junior”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph “Junior” Montesi, age 83, of Azilda Ontario. He passed peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at St. Gabriel Villa, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Copper Cliff in 1942, Junior lived a full and joyful life rooted in family, hard work, and the great outdoors. He was the beloved husband of Germaine Montesi (née Laurin) and a devoted father to Debbie Huneault (partner Guy Malette), Lana Gravelle, and Jason Montesi (spouse Beth Montesi).

Predeceased by his parents Giuseppe (Pino) and Lodovina Montesi. Also predeceased by sister Edna Signoretti (spouse Silveo “Tom”), Evelyn Valentini (spouse Attilio “Joe”), and survived by Lorraine Zanatta (spouse Frank).

He was a cherished Grandfather (Nono) to Danielle Garneau (spouse Mitch Garneau), Mathieu Huneault, Jacob, Zack and Will Montesi, and a proud great-grandfather to Noah and Max Garneau.

He retired from INCO after 35 years of dedicated service. Junior had a lifelong passion for sports including golf, duck hunting, and fishing, and he took great pride in spending time outdoors. He was fortunate to have many lifelong friends and his ‘coffee buddies’ meant so much to him.

Above all, he loved deeply. Even after experiencing speech deficits from a stroke, he was a great communicator and managed to make sure all of us knew how much he loved us.

His family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at the Health Sciences North Dialysis Unit and Villa St. Gabriel Villa for their exceptional care and kindness.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691 R.R. 15, Chelmsford on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 12 noon to 3 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Health Sciences North Foundation- Dialysis Patient Fund would be greatly appreciated.

Joseph will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest easy Junior.
