Man, 19, arrested in Clemow Avenue murder

Two suspects are still at large after fatal shooting

A 19-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder after he allegedly shot a 39-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman on Clemow Avenue June 13, resulting in the woman’s death.

Greater Sudbury Police say that through an investigation, officers identified, located and arrested the person believed to be responsible for the shooting.

Police said on Friday that this was believed to be a targeted incident, as the individuals involved are known to each other.

Around 6:30 p.m. June 13, Sudbury police arrested 19-year-old Sudbury resident Braidon Jordan on Barrydowne Road.

Upon searching the individual incident to arrest, officers located a loaded handgun and 30.5 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $3,050. 

Jordan has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Attempt Murder with a Firearm
  • Breach of Firearms Prohibition x3
  • Break and Enter - Commit Indictable Offence 
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing it was Obtained Through the Commission of a Crime
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • Use Firearm in Commission of an Offence 
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Adult Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Breach of Probation  
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking to wit Cocaine 

Jordan appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) Court June 14 to answer to the charges and has since been remanded into custody.

Based on the investigation, detectives have confirmed that two other individuals were involved in the incident. Both individuals remain at large. 

Detectives continue to follow-up on leads and information to identify and locate both individuals.
