The Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury invites the public to “connect to community and climate resilience” at its Neighbourhoods for Nature, Caring Communities event this Saturday.
“We invite everyone to connect to community, and strengthen our resilience together” says Naomi Grant, Chair of Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury. “This is going to be a really special event.”
On Nov. 15 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., the event will be held at the Main Branch of the Greater Sudbury Public Library, 74 Mackenzie St.
“Understand local climate risks, what you can do, and what local resources and programs are available, with EarthCare Sudbury, Up North On Climate, and Public Health Sudbury & Districts,” the coalition said in a news release.
Also on hand providing information will be the Canadian Environmental Law Association, Junction Creek Stewardship Committee, Robinson Huron Waawiindamaagewin and Traditional Ecological Knowledge Elders.
“Chat with fellow community members about their experiences doing home retrofits, owning and driving an EV, or getting around by transit in Sudbury,” the release states.
The Little Wooden Library will hold a toy swap, while Closet Share will be on hand for a clothing swap and drop-in mending service with help from Afro Women and Youth Foundation.
Attendees can also “take part in activities for all ages, including seed bomb making with The Nickel Refillery, Three Sisters planting with Better Beginnings Better Futures Indigenous-led, vermicomposting demonstration and free wildflower seeds with Sudbury Shared Harvest, and art-based mindfulness activities for kids.”
Free snacks will be provided.
