Sudbury Cyclones’ head coach Giuseppe Politi has been named the League1 Ontario Coach of the Year.

The team said Politi was up for the honour against Unionville Milliken SC head coach Donovan Taffe and Whitby FC head coach Ramin Mohammadi.

“Politi was the club’s inaugural head coach in 2024, and has led the Cyclones to two straight promotions, the first head coach in League1 Ontario to do so,” the team said in a news release.

The coach isn’t the only member of the Cyclones to earn a League1 award this year. Goalkeeper Connor Vande Weghe was named Keeper of the Year as well. You can read more about that here.

In other soccer news, Cyclones academies are back for the U14-U20 group. The first of 12 weeks of training sessions is set for Nov. 15 from 7-9 p.m. at the Lancer Dome. Registration is now open here.
