It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearly adored Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, Anna Lagges, at The Village of Wentworth Heights, Hamilton, with loving family by her side. On Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, at the age of 91, Anna bid farewell to this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and grace. Born on Thursday, March 15th, 1934, in Asopos, Greece she began a remarkable journey that touched countless lives.
Beloved wife of Nicholas Lagges. Loving mother of Panagiotis “Peter” Lagges (wife Michelle) and Joyce Zoe Lagges predeceased. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas Anthony Lagges and Julia Zoe Lagges. Dear daughter of Periklis A. Vlachakis & Foteini P. Vlachaki (née Lekka) both predeceased. Dear sister of Anastasios Vlachakis predeceased, Georgios Vlachakis (wife Afrodite) both predeceased, Vangelis Vlachakis predeceased, Despina Vlachakis predeceased and Stavroula Kanavaros (Dimitrios predeceased). She treasured her extended family dearly, holding immense love and gratitude for her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and beloved nieces and nephews.
Anna was a devoted wife to her beloved Nicholas for 60 years, he was her sweetheart and the love of her life. Their union, rooted in shared dreams and unwavering commitment, stands as a true testament to enduring love. Nicholas’s affection was her guiding light, illuminating her path with grace and tenderness throughout life. Their devotion and partnership formed the foundation of their lives, offering unending support and joyfully celebrating every milestone together. Nick brought light to her darkest days and warmth to her coldest nights. She will forever be by his side whispering words of love and endearment. Their one true love is unbreakable, and their connection remains everlasting. Anna and Nicholas's love story lives on through their children and grandchildren.
Anna and her husband devoted many years to operating their family restaurants in Sudbury, including The White Rose Food Bar, Carnaby Fish & Chips, and Nick’s Pier Seafood Restaurant. She was a proud and active member of the local Greek community, deeply committed to preserving its traditions and spirit. Anna also found joy in swimming with her cherished friends at the Nickel District pool and shared her love of cooking through countless family gatherings, where her famous Caltzounia became a beloved favourite. Her home was always a place of warmth and welcome, where friends and family gathered to share laughter, stories, and delicious meals prepared with love. Throughout her life, Anna formed sincere and genuine connections and long lasting friendships both in Sudbury and in Hamilton. Her warmth, and undisputable personality made her a companion for life. Those who knew and loved Anna will remember her character, a beautiful blend of playfulness and determination, kindness and tenacity. She will be remembered for her unforgettable smile, her passion, her generous spirit, unwavering kindness, and her profound love for her family. As we gather to celebrate her amazing journey, we hold her close in our hearts, sharing stories that evoke both laughter and tears.
Above and beyond all, Anna cherished her family. As a mother, she was an inspiration to her children, living by example and guiding them with wisdom and unconditional affection. Through her actions, she taught them values of family and shaped their lives with her profound influence. To her children and grandchildren, Anna instilled independence providing guidance, support, and unwavering love. She nurtured their dreams and made them believe that they could achieve anything they set their minds to, giving them opportunity that she never had as an immigrant. Her moto " Never Give Up". Anna's love for her family knew no bounds and all of their accomplishments brought her immeasurable pride.

Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may call 3-5; 6-8pm Monday November 10th with prayers at 7pm Monday). Funeral Service in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 486 Ester Rd., Sudbury on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 11:30am. Interment in the family plot at the Civic Cemetery.
