Hedwig (Heidi) Kadlec (née Schoengen) (1933 – 2025)

It is with mixed emotions that the family announces the passing of Hedwig (Heidi) Kadlec.

She passed peacefully at McCulloch Hospice, Sudbury, Tuesday November 4, 2025 at the age of ninety-two years.

Daughter of the late Henry Schoengen and the late Kate Schoengen (nee Baron).  She leaves behind two sons Felix (wife Monique) and Dave (wife Tammy).  Survived by her brother Rudy (wife Melai and son Cedrick).  Heidi will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her five grandsons Shawn, Trevor (wife Kyla), Jeffrey (wife Melanie), Chad and Troy, her nine great grandchildren Rudy (wife Megan), Philip (partner Megan), Gavin (wife Naomi), Brodie (wife Zoe), Tristan(partner Sydney), Brandon (partner Corissa), Amanda (husband John), Ryan (wife Adrienne), Shawn (wife Jenna) and nine great-great grandchildren Aurora, Dakota, Hazel, Casey, Brooklyn, Henry, Lillian, Arthur and Harper.

Heidi lived a full life and while it was not an easy one, she would tell anyone who may have asked that it was a perfect one.  She lived her life with the mottos of "one day at a time" and "do unto others as you would do unto yourself".  She loved her late husband Felix (2013) for over sixty years and she was a devoted Roman Catholic.  All of her life, she donated both her time as well as her resources to many worthy causes.  Her time spend with her family was precious to her and it always amazed her how quickly they all grew up.

The last few years were more challenging as her health began to decline, she had to leave her friends in Barrie and the life she had built there in order to move in with her family in St Charles.  While she was ready to join her husband, her parents and many family members and friends, we were still not prepared to lose her.

As per her request a funeral mass will be held at noon on Saturday November 15th at St. Charles Catholic Church. A small reception will follow at the Club Alidor (next to the church). The interment of her ashes will be placed in St Mary's Cemetery in Barrie on Monday November 17th at 12:00pm. All family and friends are welcome.

Heidi wanted the memory of her to be a happy one and for the tears of those who grieve to be dried before the sun.

She was a remarkable woman who lived her life on her own terms and she will truly be missed.

Memorial donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice in Sudbury would be greatly appreciated.  https://maisonsudburyhospice.org/donate/
