Sudbury didn’t get the result they were looking for in this one, falling to the Hounds by a score of 3-1.

Owen Leonard got the start in goal on the road for the Sudbury Wolves while Noah Tegelaar was between the pipes for the Soo.

Just over nine minutes into the opening period, the Greyhounds grabbed a 1-0 lead with Ryan Kaczynski’s first goal of the season, who picked up Chase Reid’s rebound from in close to the net, with the lone assist going to Chase Reid.

Just over a minute and a half later, Greyhounds Right Winger Marco Mignosa scored an unassisted goal on a breakway, his sixth goal of the season, to give Sault Ste. Marie some insurance and a 2-0 lead.

With 2:53 remaining in the opening period, Kaczynski notched his second goal of the game and of the season, coming in untouched by the Wolves’ defensemen, assisted by Noah Laus and Jack O’Brien, capping off a dominant period for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, giving them a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

At the 6:39 mark of the middle frame, with Brady Smith serving a two-minute minor penalty for Interference, the Wolves finally got on the scoreboard with Jan Chovan’s second goal of the season picking up a centering pass from Walton, this one on the power play, with the assists going to Kieron Walton and Sudbury native Alex Pharand, reducing Sault Ste. Marie’s lead to 3-1.

The Wolves dominated the play in the third period, out-shooting the Soo 11-4 in the period, but couldn’t solve Tegelaar again, and fell 3-1 to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

With the loss, the Sudbury Wolves drop to a record of two wins, eight regulation losses, and one overtime loss on the season.

The Sudbury Wolves travel back home to play against the Barrie Colts on Friday, Oct. 24, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
