Sudbury performer Chad Rivette is up for not one but two honours at the Josie Music Awards being held next month in Nashville, Tennessee, but he needs a little help from the Nickel City to get there.

On Oct. 26, Sudbury Performance Group and some of the city’s best performers are coming together for a one-night-only event to help raise funds to send Rivette south of the border.

Rivette’s country songs earned him the 2024 International Entertainer Of The Year Gold at the ISSA Music Awards in Atlanta, Georgia.

He is currently nominated for two awards at the Josie Music Awards: one for the song “Two Hearts One Highway” (co-written with Jordan Lalonde and Natalie Crispo) in the Songwriters Achievement Award category, and the other for the song “Dear Alcohol” in the Social Impact Song of the Year category.

The Josie Music Awards were launched in 2015 to celebrate independent music.

The award ceremonies will be held over two events at two different locations. On Nov. 1, the ceremony will be held at the Belle Aire Mansion in Nashville, while the Nov. 2 awards evening will be held at the famous Grand Ole Opry.

The benefit concert will be held at Cousin Vinny’s in Hanmer and will feature the musical talents of:

  • Adam Ternahan
  • Allison MacDonald
  • Carey Blackwell & Amanda Blackwell
  • Andy Lowe
  • AT Dawn
  • Dan Gauthier
  • Davey De
  • Eric Cloutier
  • Fabio Cinel (Moonlight Buskers)
  • Jessy Brunette
  • Leo Duquette
  • MusicMel
  • Nina Kitts
  • Renee Frappier
  • Ryan Kneer
  • Scott Mitchell
  • And many more talented local performers.

The event will be held Oct. 26 from 3-7 p.m. Tickets are $50 for adults or $25 for children 12 and under. A buffet dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Besides music, the evening will feature a silent auction, a penny table, 50/50 draws and raffles.

“I’m beyond grateful for everyone taking the time to help make this dream a reality,” Rivette told Sudbury.com. “Your support means the world. My heart is so full from the incoming sponsor calls, the entertainers stepping up to perform, and the outpouring of love from this amazing community.

“There’s no set amount we’re trying to raise, every note, every dollar, every bit of support helps with travel and expenses on this incredible journey to Nashville. Thank you for believing in me … and for helping me keep the music alive.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the door on the night of the event, or in advance by visiting Cousin Vinny’s or by calling Rivette directly at 705-929-4987.
