Five youths, one carrying what appeared to be a handgun, have been charged after stealing alcohol from a Bancroft Drive convenience store Sept. 11.
Officers were dispatched to the store just after 8:40 p.m.
Information provided was that a group of youths had entered a convenience store and stole cases of alcohol.
When the employee approached the youths outside the convenience store, one of them displayed what was described as a handgun. The youths fled the area on foot prior to police being called.
Members of Patrol Operations, the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and K9 Unit arrived on scene. Officers conducted a K9 track leading to Second Avenue, where two youths were arrested.
While on scene, Patrol Officers recognized two other youths who were believed to be involved. They were taken into custody without incident.
Through the investigation, the fifth youth was identified, and he was taken into custody at his residence.
The five youths, two girls aged 15 and 16, and three boys, one 15-year-old and two 16 year-olds, have been charged with robbery.
Four of the suspects were held in custody to attend court today, Sept. 12. One of the youths was released with a court date of Nov. 13.
Their names cannot be released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
