Sudbury's Indie Cinema is set to host screenings of a feature-length film with an unusual title.
“The Pee Pee Poo Poo Man” is an independent production created and directed by North Bay filmmaker Braden Sitter Sr., said a news release.
The production has played in other venues across North America and is having its official Northeastern Ontario debut and run in Sudbury, said the release.
The film is also set to premiere in London, England later in July, said the release.
The film is described in the release as a comedy-thriller about a troubled young man who launches a bizarre crime spree in Toronto - dumping buckets of liquefied feces on people’s heads. It's based on true-life events in 2019.
Actors in the film include Rishi Rodriguez, Spencer Rice (Kenny vs Spenny), and Paul Bellini (Kids in the Hall).
A surprise advance screening took place earlier this week at the Sudbury Indie Cinema, 162 Mackenzie St.
The premiere there is set for July 17, at 6:30 p.m. with director Braden Sitter Sr. in attendance for a post-screening Q&A session, said the release.
Other screenings are to be held later. Number one screening is July 19 at 8:30 p.m.; number two screening is July 21 at 5:45 p.m. A third screening is July 29 at 5 p.m.
The release claimed the film has become a word-of-mouth success story, playing to sold-out crowds at independent theatres in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, and major U.S. cities including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and a two-week run in New Orleans. It was also selected for the Chattanooga Film Festival and the Brunswick Underground Film Festival in Melbourne, Australia, said the release.
