1941-2025 (84)
With her family lovingly by her side, Claire Farnel (née Martin), 84, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Pioneer Manor.
Claire is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Edgar Farnel. She was a beloved mother to Tara Yaw (Michael and Clifford, both predeceased) and Todd Farnel (Heather). Claire was a cherished Nan to her granddaughter Kylie Masiero (Malcolm) and her great-grandson Rowan.
She was born to parents Paul and Pearl Martin (both predeceased) and is survived only by one sister, Diane Dumais (Vic) as well as her in-laws Joyce Dickson (Jim), Russ Farnel (predeceased, Christine) and Dan Farnel (Heather). Claire was a special Matante Fi to many nieces and nephews.
Claire worked for many years as a proud courtesy desk manager at Canadian Tire where she made a meaningful impression on both colleagues and customers. Claire was deeply devoted to her family and her unwavering love for them will always be remembered. She loved bringing joy to her family in the kitchen, best known for her holiday “meat on the sticks” and enough Christmas baking to fill the dining room table. Her table was always open to everyone for a Sunday meal – neighbours, friends; Claire made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Claire enjoyed checking out the newest television shows, tending to her beautiful flower gardens and had an affinity for a good appetizer platter. She made every holiday magical and the countless traditions she instilled in her family will always live on.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pioneer Manor for their care and compassion over the last 8 years but especially to nurse Stacey and PSWs Vicky and Ina. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society. In keeping with Claire’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation.
Arrangements entrusted to Park Lawn Cremation Services.
