Who doesn’t need a few classical mega hits in their life? Sudbury Symphony Orchestra has you covered on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they officially open the 2025-26 season with Classical Mega Hits Vol. 2.
This dynamic program, led by SSO Artistic Director William Rowson, marks the official opening of the SSO’s 25/26 Season with enduring masterpieces from a range of eras and styles.
Rowson, known for his engaging introductions and deep musical insight, will guide listeners through the program, making the concert an inviting experience for both longtime symphony-goers and those discovering orchestral music for the first time. Everyone can expect to delve in for a deeper listening experience.
Among the featured works is the opening movement of Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, “The Unfinished”, and the Danzón No. 2 by Márquez. “This program really exercises all the orchestral muscles” says Rowson. “Lots of big moments, and each piece of music is a different world from the last. We’re all really looking forward to sharing these iconic moments with the audience.”
As part of the SSO’s commitment to accessibility, Classical Mega Hits, Vol. 2 is offered in two formats: the traditional evening concert at 7:30 p.m. and a shorter, family friendly matinee at 2 p.m.
Both shows are at Sheridan Auditorium.
