It is with great sorrow that the family announce the passing of Thérèse Clements at Pioneer Manor on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the age of 99. A life this long leaves a marked impression.

Anybody who knew Thérèse would describe her as being methodical and organized. However, her dominant trait was her assertive character as well as her clear vision of how life should be orchestrated. For the most part, life went as she directed.

This being said, her happiest and cherished moments were spent with family be it immediate or larger gatherings. It was in these settings that she was most relaxed and would let her guard down to savour the laughter and joy of those precious times.

Although Thérèse guarded her open affections, her love was deeply rooted for her family. Recently, while acknowledging her limited time, in a telephone conversation with her sister Rose-Mai, she repeatedly said, “I love you.” She and her sibling bore a long-term bond that commenced in childhood and lingered throughout their nursing training (of which they were proud) and for years to follow.

Thérèse has also felt the loss her confidant and best friend Rena Jelenic and has carried the weight since her passing. A long life provides the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships but burdens the survivor with their losses.

The family takes solace that she is joining her beloved husband Roland of 70 years.

He has been waiting for her faithfully for over three years and now their joined souls will have direction and continued companionship.

Thérèse is survived by her two daughters, Camille Clements-Pitchkur (George Pitchkur) and Elyse Clements (Kari Viippola), whom she loved deeply and gave her purpose and meaning. We will cherish her in our hearts forever.

Thérèse was born to parents Bertha and Josaphat Bélanger (both predeceased) and is survived by two sisters, Rose-Mai Mailloux (Alphonse predeceased) and Yvonne Mongeon (Roland predeceased) as well as her sisters-in-law Shirley Clements (Marcel predeceased) and Maureen Hannah (Roy). She is predeceased by sisters Carmen Bélanger, Rachel Brunet (Paul predeceased) as well as her sister-in-law Rena Jelenic (Milan predeceased). Thérèse is predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Regina and Louis Clements. She is survived by many precious nieces and nephews.

Thérèse’s last years were spent at Pioneer Manor where she felt respected and valued by the Cedar Wing staff. There, she was not just another aged and dependent person who required care but a valued member of their family community. The dedicated staff of Pioneer Manor are to be commended for the quality of service and their compassion that helps to maintain the dignity of seniors. Thank you so very much!

Please consider making donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay and Districts (Charity registration #124237124RR0001). In keeping with Thérèse’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation.
