The city said in an Oct. 24 press release that it is working “revitalize” Memorial Park.
The news release, which calls the work “the start of an exciting transformation”, said the efforts are part of Downtown Action Place “aimed at advancing downtown revitalization efforts.”
“Early work this fall includes limbing and pruning trees, restoring turf, installing sod, removing concrete, repairing lock stone and removing flower gardens and picnic tables,” the press release states. “Construction fencing will be installed around the work area to preserve the repaired grounds and ensure public safety.”
The first part of the work focuses on the northern end of the park. That work will last until mid-November, the release states. Then, come spring, work on the southern part of the park will begin.
“It will include more turf restoration and sod installation, the creation of a vendor area, installation of concreate pads and final grounds repairs,” the release states.
The city said one of the “key pillars” of the Downtown Action Plan is beautification, and the work “includes work to improve the cleanliness and maintenance of key streets and landmarks.”
