The City of Greater Sudbury has launched a new online portal for people to apply for building permits.

Called “Pronto,” the service went online June 27. You can access it here.

Pronto allows residents and businesses to fill out building permit applications online and digitally attach and submit plans and drawings, “eliminating the requirement for multiple in-person visits and allowing for a faster and more convenient service,” the city said in a news release.

“The Pronto online portal aligns with council’s priorities to improve service and ensure transparency of development processes at the City of Greater Sudbury,” said Mayor Paul Lefebvre, in a press release.

The service allows applicants to track permit applications. Applicants will alsok receive email or phone prompts if more information is required. The said upgrades are in the works for Pronto to allow for scheduling inspections, accessing historical property permit information, processing online payments and submitting planning services applications
Current Pronto services include:

  • Submitting a building permit application online;
  • Uploading building permit documents, such as drawings, plot plans and supplementary documents;
  • Viewing details related to the processing status of building permit applications;
  • Viewing application fees;
  • Viewing inspections and related details associated to an application.

The city will continue to accept applications in-person at the Tom Davies Square One Stop Services counter. Applicants can call 311 or visit in-person to receive help using the system. Online tutorials are also available on the city’s website.
