The Biggest Little Theatre Company presents its 10th youth production, The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition, starting later this week.
This one-hour adaptation of the timeless classic has been specially tailored for elementary and middle school-aged actors and audiences, making it the perfect family outing.
Based on L. Frank Baum’s beloved novel and inspired by the iconic 1939 MGM film, this magical stage version features the unforgettable songs of Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, along with the sweeping instrumental music of Herbert Stothart.
The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition invites audiences to “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” into the Land of Oz for a jubilant theatrical experience full of music, laughter, and heart.
Join Dorothy and her loyal dog Toto as they journey to the Emerald City to meet the great and powerful Wizard of Oz. Along the way, they encounter witches both good and wicked, the lovable Munchkins, and even winged monkeys.
Most importantly, they befriend three unforgettable characters — a Scarecrow without a brain, a Tin Man without a heart, and a Lion without courage. Together, they discover that true happiness and strength come from within.
“This production is extra special for us,” said Jeff Burton, director/co-owner of The Biggest Little Theatre Company.
“It’s not only one of the most well-loved stories in the world, but it also marks our 10th youth production here in Sudbury. Our young cast has poured their hearts into bringing Oz to life, and we can’t wait to share it with our community.”
The show runs Aug. 19-24 at 2891 Martin Rd in Blezard Valley.
