Richard Walter Bell (1935 – 2025)

It is with sadness that the family of Richard Bell announces his passing in Sudbury, Thursday November 6, 2025, at the age of 90 years. Son of the late Walter Bell and the late Rose Bell (née Mulloy). Husband of the late Barbara Bell (née Marshall). Loving father of Laurie Bell. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Colin and Devin. Survived by his brother Bob, niece Paula, nephew Paul and family friend Myrna. Predeceased by his sister June and John Marshall (Kathy).

Richard married his high school sweetheart Barb and were married for 52 years. Their home was a place where family and friends gathered. Richard adored Laurie and his grandsons Colin and Devin. As a father, grandfather and best friend, he devoted his time to providing them with love, experiences and memories to last forever.

After graduating from high school, Richard joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Gander Newfoundland. In 1965 he received his education in instrumentation and in 1967 a teaching certificate in electronics. In 1968 he became employed with Falconbridge as an Instrumentation Design Draftsman and retired in 1995. Richard was a proud Canadian and from 1994-2010, devoted his time to the Lockerby Legion Branch 564. His involvement was extensive, volunteering for many positions including but not limited to Branch President, vice president and Sergeant of Arms. Richard received many certificates of merit, achievement and appreciation.

Richard loved hunting with his best buddies, Bob, Paul, Allan, Dan and the Toledo gang. He had amazing experiences, made great memories and always said it was all about the comradery (the martini deck is now open). Richard had been an avid snowmobiler and had the injuries to prove it! We will miss him yelling at the TV when his favorite sports team was playing!

We extend our gratitude to the HSN ARCC staff for their care and compassion. Over the past few years Richard also received care through Bayshore. Every staff person who walked through our door provided excellent care and compassion.

A special thank you to Leiby, Mohammed, Julie and Don. You will forever be in our hearts. Thank you, we will miss you. Thank you to Kerri and Rachel.

His family physician Dr. Mirka, is the most caring and compassionate Doctor. She was always available when we needed her and provided excellent care above and beyond. Thank you.
