Updated: Balsam Street in Copper Cliff reopened after weapons investigation

Balsam Street in Copper Cliff has now been reopened following a Greater Sudbury Police investigation of a firearms weapons complaint.

After arresting one person, police say that a residence on the street has been cleared, and no additional people were found inside.

"The scene is being held as officers apply for a search warrant," police said in a tweet at 10:52 a.m. Sept. 12, who also gave thanks to area residence for their patience.

Greater Sudbury Police say Balsam Street in Copper Cliff is closed to vehicle/pedestrian traffic due to a weapons complaint.

A tweet issued at 8:52 a.m. Sept. 12 said officers were on scene of a weapons complaint involving what is believed to be a firearm.

Officers have the residence contained and one person is in custody. Police are currently "clearing" the residence.
