The Women of Distinction Awards Gala, on Saturday, October 4th is a night to celebrate women who are role models, mentors, and have influenced women and girls through their accomplishments.
Join the community for a glamorous and unforgettable evening at the Steelworkers’ Union Hall and Conference Centre to honour six extraordinary women and one group of women who are trailblazers, innovators, and leaders in their fields and who have touched countless lives.
Choosing among remarkable women is a challenge
From entrepreneurs to activists, artists to scientists, this event showcases the diverse talents and accomplishments of women who have broken barriers and shattered glass ceilings in our own community.
The Women of Distinction Selection Committee spent a great deal of time trying to decide among the many worthy candidates. Julie Sauvé, Media and Special Events Coordinator for YWCA Sudbury says, “Earlier in the year, we brought together a committee, and we gathered nominations from people in the community who nominated amazing women who are doing amazing things to uplift, empower, and inspire other women around them.”
There are seven award recipients this year, including a 16-year-old who has inspired others simply with her long list of accomplishments. Sauve adds, “When our Women of Distinction Selection Committee reviewed these nominations, they were looking for women who had a significant and positive impact and who made a difference in the lives of women and girls in our community.”
